Shahid Kapoor on award winning spree
Shahid Kapoor on award winning spree
While he was named the most popular male actor at the STAR Screen awards, Shahid also won the heartthrob of the nation award at the fifth Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards.
The 28-year-old also walked away with the Editor's choice best actor award at the Stardust awards for his portrayal of Guddu and Charlie - the ruffian with the endearing lisp and the simpleton who stammers respectively - in Vishal Bharadwaj's "Kaminey".
Last year saw Shahid's transformation from a chocolate hero to an intense actor.
Though his latest release "Chance Pe Dance" hasn't been able to pull in a lot of audiences, Shahid is looking forward to good times this year. He will be seen in Parmeet Sethi's untitled movie for Yash Raj Films apart from his father, veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor's "Masoom".

Preview Chance Pe Dance realistic film about strugglers
New Delhi, Jan 11 (IANS) After giving a hit with their debut vehicle "Ishq Vishk" (2003), actor Shahid Kapoor and director Ken Ghosh have teamed up once again for "Chance Pe Dance", about strugglers trying to make it big in Bollywood. It is releasing Friday. Produced and distributed by UTV Motion Pictures for Rs.25 crore including print and publicity costs, it stars Genelia D'Souza in the female lead.
Chance Pe Dance' realistic film about strugglers (IANS Preview)
"It's a very realistic film on strugglers. The story of the film flows through such a situation that any struggler can identify with it, whether he is struggling as an engineer, doctor or as a lawyer," Shahid had told IANS.
The movie has also been in discussion for being a biopic on Shahid. However Ghosh has said only some incidents in the film reflects the actor's real life struggle.
"It's not a biopic in any way. The experiences have been borrowed from the life of strugglers. Shahid has gone through similar situations while he was struggling. The film is about those who go through a lot of struggle just to get one chance. Sometimes life gives you a chance, you need to grab it and make most of it," said Ghosh.
"Chance Pe Dance" revolves around a talented young struggling actor Sameer (Shahid). Positive and brimming with energy, Sameer juggles various jobs while waiting to get his big break in movies. During his struggle, he meets a choreographer, Tina (Genelia D'Souza).
Just when Sameer is promised his big break, he is left without a house as he cannot pay his rent. Not one to lose heart, he starts living in his rickety old car and starts teaching dance in a school to young kids who have never won any dance competition. It is not an easy job for him as he hates kids and the kids hate dancing.
The struggle as the director who was to launch Sameer now decides to choose his hero through a talent hunt. Sameer is shattered but he diverts his focus towards the kids. Getting over his initial dislike of children, he emotionally bonds with them and also helps them win a prestigious inter-school dance competition and gets their confidence back, aided by Tina.
Tina urges Sameer to enter the talent hunt and he emerges a winner and eventually becomes a superstar.
With a healthy line-up of promotional activities and the buzz courtesy Shahid's dance sequences in the movie and his eight-pack abs, the movie has raised expectations.
If the Shahid-Ghosh combo works again, "Chance Pe Dance" just might be 2010's first hit.

Shahid Kapoor Genelia D’Souza passion Passe?
ask Shahid Kapoor what he thinks of his fans and he is bound to tell you that they are all a bunch of cute kids! That piece of news is absolutely true as was proved by the Actors concern shown in the intimate scenes he shares with Genelia in the Film Chance Pe Dance According to reports this sensitive actor had requested the director to delete the kissing scene they had shot for the film with him and Genelia, he said that since most of his fans consisted of teenagers he did not want to create a bad impression on them.
Considering that both the actors have young fans they felt a certain amount of responsibility towards them and so even the older people or rather fans have to make do with what remains uncensored in the film.

Struggling days difficult yet memorable Shahid Kapoor
Mumbai, Jan 7 (IANS) Shahid Kapoor feels his struggling days were difficult -- from renting a number of houses to spending a night in a second hand Maruti 800 to giving 100s of auditions and getting rejected -- yet memorable. "All these things are a memory. I am very happy and proud of the fact that God has been so kind to me and given me so much. I am glad that I was able to get through all those difficulties in my life," said Shahid, who spent a whole night sitting on the roof and bonnet of a car along with his "Chance Pe Dance" co-star Genelia D'Souza at the Kamalistan Studios here, promoting their movie that releases Jan 15.

At around midnight Wednesday, the duo arrived near the car in T-shirts and track pants.
Vada pao (bun) and tea vendors were present along with 'khatiyas' (string cot) nearby for the audience.
In the film, Shahid plays a struggler who comes to Mumbai to make it big in the movies.
Sources said the activity, which continued till 7 a.m Thursday, was planned as it resembles the lives of those who come to Mumbai to try their luck and also because a scene in the movie depicts it.
Citing a real-life incident when he spent a night in a car during his struggling days, though he had his house and well-settled family in Mumbai, the actor told IANS: "We always lived in a rented flat and we had to shift from one flat to the other and my family was not in town. Due to some reason we had to leave the flat a day before and I had to spent the night in the car."
