After five years Shahid Kapoor to walk the ramp

After five years Shahid Kapoor to walk the ramp

The one thing he last was seen doing along side his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, way back in 2006. That was for Manish Malhotra. Looks like, in 2011, Shahid has just walked a little further, away from his once love Bebo. The Kapoor boy will waltz down the ramp at the upcoming fashion week to be held in August. Alone.

A close friend of the actor revealed, "For five years, Sasha (as Shahid is fondly called) shied away from such offers. The last time he did was for Kareena. He doesn't like to attend parties either. And when it comes to the ramp, he generally says 'No'."
Now, however, the star seems to have made an exception. "Shahid is walking the ramp for his personal stylist Kunal Rawal in the upcoming fashion week. Kunal is a very good friend of his. In fact, Kunal designed his entire wardrobe for Mausam," said the friend.
Of course, considering Shahid has stayed away from the fashion flashlights since 2006, this is a big step for him on the personal front as well. "Shahid took a long time to firmly make up his mind. But now, it's official," added the source. Shahid remained unavailable for comments.

Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra keep safe distance

Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra keep safe distance

Are they together or not? Nobody seems to know for sure. After denying having an affair a zillion times (and then notoriously doing things which indicate to the contrary) Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra seem to have finally parted ways..at least that is what people have concluded after watching how they behave with each other on the sets of Kunal Kohli’s next.

According to sources, Shahid and Priyanka are finding it very difficult to maintain normalcy in their relationship. At the sets of Kunal’s film, though the duo works professionally and gives their best shot while in front of the camera, Shahid-Priyanka avoid any interaction off camera. It is worrisome how the two actors are avoiding each other on the sets and the cold vibes might be visible in the film too if they do not mend fences.

Incidentally, Kunal had signed Shahid and Priyanka for the film way before their breakup. He had hoped to cash in on the real chemistry and the popularity of the couple. Poor Kunal, little did he know that he would find his lead actors looking separate ways when the shooting began. Shahid-Priyanka, patch up for your director at least…..by all means majority of his films are bad copies of some or the other Hollywood classic, the audiences deserve at least a good chemistry between the lead actors!!

Shahid Kapoor's Mausam to affect many

Shahid Kapoor's Mausam to affect many
Shahid Kapoor's Mausam has been postponed, this time by a week. Earlier scheduled for a September 9 release, the film will finally release on September 16. But this sudden development has had a ripple effect.

It is Shahid and Priyanka Chopra starrer Kunal Kohli's untitled film which has suffered an abrupt change in plan, leaving Kohli with no option but to shoot his film in July.

Now to clear your foggy glasses, we tell you how and what happened. Pankaj Kapur's Mausam has been rescheduled for a third time to release in mid September. Earlier, Shahid was supposed to start shooting for Kohli's film right after Mausam's release on September 9, but because of the change in plan Shahid now requires time to promote his father's film instead. Thus, the dates given to Kohli earlier will now stand cancelled.

To help Kohli out, Shahid reallocated his dates and wanted to shoot in July instead of September. Priyanka, the lead actress, unfortunately, didn't have dates in July as she was shooting for Anurag Basu's Barfee. So, Kohli was wise enough to use his good rapport with Basu and request him to exchange their dates. Phew! Enough information? No? Okay here's more.

Once when Kohli explained his situation to Basu, the director cooperated and agreed to exchange his dates. So Basu gave his July dates of Barfee to Kohli and agreed to shoot his in September. Now while Shahid promotes his Mausam in mid-September, Priyanka will shoot for Barfee.

Thus Priyanka's dates were also taken care of. In a way it was a relaxing time for Basu as he seemingly didn't have an easy time shooting the film. First with rumours of Priyanka and Ileana not getting along and then the film's Darjeeling schedule going haywire, had disturbed Basu a bit.

When contacted, Kohli said, "We had to adjust dates as Mausam is now released on the September 16. These days an artiste needs time for publicity and Shahid was justified in that. So, we decided to shoot the UK portions in July but the hitch was Priyanka's dates which were with Basu. So, I just picked up the phone and called Basu with whom I share a good rapport.

We didn't want to break the flow of the shoot. In fact, Shahid was keen to shoot the Punjab schedule but I insisted on the UK schedule as the weather is right. Now we will shoot the Punjab schedule after Mausam releases."

Kohli further said, "Basu also needed some time for his prep and it all worked out well for all of us. I am touched by Basu's gesture. All it required was one phone call. If need be, I will also do the same for Basu."

Shahid Kapoor Are The Best In Bollywood: Kabir Bedi

Shahid Kapoor Are The Best In Bollywood: Kabir Bedi

Veteran actor Kabir Bedi rates Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor as the two best young actors in Bollywood today.

"But frankly there is dearth of young bright talented actors coming through. That's what Bollywood lacks today,'' feels Bedi who is one of the few Indian actors to make it to Hollywood.

"The problem could be also due to the fact that older actors keep reinventing themselves. Salman Khan is still there, Shah Rukh Khan is still ruling there. Akshay Kumar is there,'' Bedi added.

"But Ranbir and Shahid are the two most promising new-generation actors, and I want to see more young actors in Bollywood,'' he said.

However, he feels there is no death of young actresses.

"Bollywood has seen no such problem when it comes to new actresses. We have so many of them. We have just seen Anuskha Sharma come from nowhere. We have Deepika Padukone who too came from nowhere. We have Priyanka Chopra who has been on the scene for about 10 years now. She also came from nowhere. So I think there are some very good young actresses.''

Asked what he thought of Deepa Mehta's description of Bollywood as Indian kitsch'' and not true representative of Indian culture, he said, "Deepa is a great filmmaker of finer sensibilities. These may be her elitist views, but Bollywood does reflect India and its Indian culture. That it is has a huge audience worldwide shows that it reflects Indian culture.''

Later, speaking a discussion on 'Hollywood, Bollywood and Beyond,'' Bedi said Bollywood is a potent symbol of India.

He said though has not worked much in Bollywood, he has no hesitation calling himself a Bollywood actor.

"Bollywood is the most potent symbol of India. It has promoted (communal) unity. It has promoted Hindi as India's national language. Bollywood unites India,'' he said.

Shahid and I have become great pals: Sonam Kapoor

Shahid and I have become great pals: Sonam Kapoor

All is well between Sonam Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor. At least, that’s what Sonam suggests, while she trashes rumours that suggest she and her Mausam co-star are having ego issues.

“Utter rubbish. It’s very sad that such things come up about people I’ve had a great time working with,” she says, also hinting at reports suggesting she wasn’t happy with director Pankaj Kapur’s leisurely shooting schedule. Apparently, she had asked her father Anil Kapoor to sort out the issue with him.
Mausam running behind schedule? “Since it has been hit by a few mishaps and production issues, besides me falling ill, things have been exaggerated. But it’s a special film for me,” she says.

Full of praise for her co-star, Sonam says, “Shahid is superb. And I say that because he is really hard-working and takes his job very seriously. He is an actor who always gives his 100 per cent.”

Interestingly, Sonam is possibly the only co-star that the young male star hasn’t been romantically linked to. “Thankfully, we haven’t been paired yet. But I don’t know how to respond to the question,” she laughs, adding that she is very fond of him. “You know, we became great friends during the shooting of Mausam. So whichever girl ends up with him will be very lucky because he is a nice guy.”

After wrapping up Mausam and Abbas-Mustan’s Players, the star is planning to take a short break from work. Her father’s remake of Freaky Friday (2003) is also not scheduled to go on floors in the near future. “We don’t even have a script for it yet,” she explains.

Once she returns, is she looking to act in a movie with Anil?

“Of course, I would love to work with my father, but only if it’s a brilliant script. So hopefully, we will get a nice story to work on
together. I will be lucky to share screen space with him,” says Sonam.

Shahid Kapoor love for step mom

Shahid Kapoor love for step mom

Actor Shahid Kapoor, who is presently shooting for his father Pankaj Kapoor's film Mausam, persuades the makers to bill his step-mom actress Supriya Pathak as the associate director for the movie. Pathak has a prominent contribution towards the filmMausam.

She has put in a lot from lighting to the script, dialogues, to making sure that the actors have their lines ready, to adjusting their clothes, making sure Pankaj has his medicines and meals on time. Looking at Pathak's enormous hand in shaping up the film with hubby director Pankaj, Shahid requested the producers to credit her as an associate director in the film.

Mausam, producer Sheetal Talwar reluctantly admits (Mid Day), "Yes, we are thinking of something on those lines (to bill Pathak as associate director)." Well, that's the loving relationship that Shahid shares with the veteran actress.

Kaminey 2 is confirmed but not working Priyanka Chopra in Kaminey 2

Kaminey 2 is confirmed but not working Priyanka Chopra in Kaminey 2

While director Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor have joined hands for the sequel, the lead actress finds herself left out from the film.

Shahid Kapoor and director Vishal Bhardwaj's patch up has rung true with the confirmation of the duo coming together for the sequel of Kaminey. However, the real shocker is the omission of Priyanka Chopra in the second part of the film, a role, which won the actress a number of awards.
Speculation states that the reason for Priyanka's conspicuous absence from Kaminey 2 is her estranged relationship with Shahid and that he has refused to do any more films with her post the wrap up of Kunal Kohli's next love story.

However, a source close to the film rubbishes these rumours. “No, it's got nothing to do with the personal equation between Shahid and Priyanka. She just doesn't fit into the sequel. Nor, for that matter, does Chandan Roy Sanyal, who played Shahid's best friend in the first part.”

The source further adds, “Vishal is currently scripting Kaminey 2. He will first direct a film with Ajay Devgn to be co-produced by Devgn, Kumar Mangat and himself. He will then start working on Kaminey 2, for which Shahid will have to prepare once again.

Vishal wants Shahid to work on the six-pack look to play one of the twins. Right after Kaminey 2, Vishal will direct 2 States with Shah Rukh Khan for producer Sajid Nadiadwala.
Talk of a sequel has been on from the time Kaminey was released. It gathered momentum due to the estranged director-actor team's renewed friendship.
Reports are that Vishal and Shahid bonded at the actor's birthday bash in February.

They were even spotted together at screenings of Amole Gupte's (who enacted the main villain in Kaminey) children's films Aansoon Baney Moti, Ummeed, and, of course, Stanley Ka Dabba. They were joined by Abhishek Chaubey, who wrote the film, reiterating the news of the sequel.

Shahid Kapoor's dad is always a priority for him

Shahid Kapoor's dad is always a priority for him

Even though actor Shahid Kapoor rushes against time to finish the post-production work of his father, actor Pankaj Kapoor’s directorial debut Mausam, there’s been a quiet casualty in the process: mom, actor Neelima Azim’s debut film as a filmmaker.
Interestingly,it was Neelima who approached her son first with a script. According to reports, Shahid decided to abort the plans following arguments and debates with his mom. A year later, he signed his dad’s directorial debut film, which also has actor Sonam Kapoor in the lead.
When contacted, Neelima confirmed, “The film is not happening right now, but we haven’t stalled the project yet.Right now, I am pretty excited to return to the big screen after almost eight years.” The actor and former Kathak dancer is making a comeback on the big screen with the film, Kuchh Log,which is directed by her long-time friend Shuja Ali.
So did her relationship with her son hit a low after he opted to do his dad’sfilm instead of hers? “Everything is fine with me and Shahid. He’s my son. There is absolutely no connection between his professional and personal relationships. He takes his own decisions.Besides, I agree with him that there has to be a suitable project to cast him as the hero,” says Neelima, clarifying that when she thought of Shahid as her hero “he was not as big a star as he’s today”.
Neelima, however, plans to launch her film at a “suitable date in the future,” but it would not have Shahid in the lead.

Shahid Ranbir Imran clash averted Rock Star postponed

Shahid Ranbir Imran clash averted Rock Star postponed

Mumbai, June 18 (IANS) It looks like the glam dream of seeing the three gen-X superstars Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan locked in a battle to the finish would remain just a fantasy. The expected clash Sep 9 this year between Shahid's "Mausam", Ranbir's "Rockstar" and Imran's "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan" is not happening!

Though official sources claim otherwise, director Imtiaz Ali's "Rockstar" has been moved forward to November.

There seems to be no limit to the delays being caused in the release of "Rock Star". Though officially the latest release date is Sep 9, there is no doubt the film has been secretly shifted to November and it looks like there are chances of further delays.

In fact a source very close to the project confirms "Rock Star" has been shifted to November.

"For now we've shifted to November. But this again is not sure. We could move further ahead," he says.
But producers Eros International maintain the status quo on the release.

Says Ram Mirchandani of Eros: "As of now we are not in a position to comment on whether the release date has been shifted from Sep 9. As soon as we get a clearer picture we will let you know."

The latest buzz is that "Rock Star" may not be released this year at all. It could now be released at the beginning of 2012. The main reason for the delay is said to be the music of the film.

Says the source: "A.R. Rahman has still to do a couple of tunes and the full background music. However, Imtiaz is really happy with the music that Rahman has done so far. In fact, Imtiaz knows the musical film is being transported to another level, thanks to Rahman's music.

The delay in the release is getting too expensive, he adds.

"The delay is proving expensive to the film's producers Eros International and Shree Ashtavinayak. It's also Nargis Fakhri's debut film. And she's getting anxious to sign other films. She's flooded with offers. But as per her contract, she can't sign any other film until 'Rock Star' releases," he says.

The biggest sufferer is Anurag Basu and his producer UTV, whose dates for Ranbir Kapoor in "Barfi" keep getting allotted to Imtiaz Ali's "Rock Star".

With "Rockstar" songs yet to be delivered, it looks like Basu's "Barfi" may yet have to suffer some more date-adjustment hassles.
Rockstar release might be pushed to November

Sonam Kapoor talks about her equation with Shahid Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor talks about her equation with Shahid Kapoor

The kind of free-bird public image Sonam Kapoor has, one would have expected her to throw a glamorous party on her birthday. But it seems like Sonam, who turned 26 on Thursday, has become wiser. She had a quiet birthday and was shooting for her upcoming movie Mausam.

Now the rumormongers have something to talk about! They can claim that Sonam spent her birthday with Shahid Kapoor (since he is the lead actor ofMausam). But before anyone could suspect anything, Sonam said that she finds a great friend in Shahid and is happy that she has not been linked with him. She added that the girl who would land up with him in the end would be really lucky. Are you reading Priyanka Chopra?

Anyway, Sonam’s daddy Anil Kapoor has already bagged some great roles in Hollywood. So will she follow his footsteps? Maybe, exclaims Sonam. She believes what matters is the kind of role being offered, not the language. However, if a great director offers her a good project, she would definitely consider it.

Effectively, Sonam is considered to be the style diva of Bollywood. So, who does she think is the most stylish actress in the industry? Unlike her other contemporaries, who would name a yesteryear actress to avoid the question, she said she finds Kangana Ranaut incredibly stylish.

Well, Sonam, you and your straight-forward talks always please your fans. Keep them coming!

Shahid Kapoor Mausam postponed

Shahid's Mausam postponed

It seems Diwali is nearer than we thought it was. Usually on a Diwali weekend, Bollywood serves us with the best of their cookies.

But it seems, this year, September 9 will be the day when industry's three heartthrobs Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan will strike the chord together with Mausam, Rockstar and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan respectively. Shahid's Mausam has been postponed to release on September 9. This will mean that a stiff competition between the three is also expected.

The producers of Shahid Kapoor's Mausam have admitted that the film will be postponed from his original release date of July 22. "I am sure all three films are good. We find September 9 as the right date to release Mausam. Now let the best man and the best film win. Let the audience take the decision," says the producer of Mausam, Sheetal Talwar.

But shedding light on the expected business of the three films, Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh does not seem too happy with the three releases together. He says, "Even a Diwali weekend is not enough to accommodated three releases. And a non festive weekend by no means will be enough for three such big films which clashes three teen heartthrobs. The business of each film could get affected by almost 40 per cent."

While Yash Raj Films is known to never postpone their films once they have fixed a release date, Taran Adarsh still hopes for a way out to avoid losses. He says, "I hope better sense prevails and they figure a way out of this. And it would be wrong to say that this clash will give us a clear winner among the three as none of the film will get enough time and space!" he adds

Shahid Kapoor Priyanka Chaopra keep distance from each other

Shahid Kapoor Priyanka Chaopra keep distance from each other

Kunal Kohli might have signed Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra for his film to cash in on their real life relationship but all his dreams have gone down the drains, as the couple have parted ways. Sadly, the couple keep distance from each other and hardly interact on the sets of the film.

It is said that Shahid and Priyanka are extremely professional and try to look convincing on screen but they go to their own cells once the camera is turned off. They hardly talk to each other on the sets.

“The relationship is over. And though Kunal Kohli had full faith in Shahid and Priyanka's professionalism he was wondering what the aftermath of the breakup would be for his film. He needn't have worried. The pair is absolutely professional on camera. It is off-camera that the aloofness between the two becomes easily discernible,” The Times of India quoted a source as saying.

“The interaction between them is minimal, almost nil. Once they give their shots they are strangers to one another. Considering the film has essentially two characters, Shahid and Priyanka, running through a gamut of emotions and spectrum of characters, the effort required to share a mutual passion on screen is a task,” added the source.

Well, we hope the duo will look like a couple at least on screen!

Shahid Kapoor unique birthday gift for his father Pankaj Kapoor

Shahid's unique birthday gift for his father Pankaj Kapoor
By Subhash K. Jha, May 31, 2011 - 14:34 IST

Shahid Kapoor requested and got the one gift for his father's birthday that the older Kapoor most craved for. A day off from the shooting and post-production of Mausam.

Says a source, "What Pankajji really wanted was not a party. That was the Mausam producer Sheetal Talwar's idea. Pankajji loves to spend his birthday every year with his wife Supriya Pathak and children. This year it seemed impossible because his directorial debut is reaching completion. It was Shahid who requested the producer. All work came to standstill on Sunday when Pankaj Kapoor spent his birthday in the way he enjoyed the most."

The night before at the party hosted by Mausam producer Sheetal Talwar, Shahid made sure his father had a good time.

On Saturday night to bring in Pankaj Kapoor's birthday bash thrown by producer Sheetal Talwar at the Pali Village Cafe, Shahid Kapoor wouldn't leave Sonam Kapoor's side from the minute she walked in.

Says a source, "Sonam actually wanted to beg off from attending the party. She had done two shifts that day for Mausam in the morning and Players in the afternoon and was really tired. But Shahid insisted she come for a while at least as it was his father's birthday. Sonam walked in late in the night and stayed almost till the end of the party. Shahid played the perfect host with her. He was by her side throughout. He was seen trying to entertain her throughout. Though they never had any drinks, they were constantly laughing and joking and entertaining one another."

Significantly, says the eyewitness, Sonam was the only guest that Shahid saw off to her car. "We were having the party for Pankajji on the first floor. Shahid insisted in accompanying her down to her car. He returned to the party only after she drove off happily."
