Shahid Kapoor steals away to London for a mysterious visit

Shahid steals away to London for a mysterious visit

By Subhash K. Jha

Mumbai, June 30 (IANS) With Sonam Kapoor heading for Mumbai for the promotion and release of her new film "I Hate Luv Storys", shooting for "Mausam" in Edinburgh slackened up a bit.

The hero Shahid Kapoor, who also happens to be the director's son, decided to take off for a three-day visit to nearby London. Only father Pankaj Kapoor knew about Shahid's whereabouts while the rest of the unit was kept in the dark about his visit.

Though Shahid maintained before her departure that Pankaj Kapoor had planned solo sequences with him while waiting for Sonam to return, the fact is that the unit was left with very little to do after Sonam's fleeting return to Mumbai which was planned well in advance.

"Shahid didn't have much shooting to do once Sonam left. So he took off for a secret holiday to London for four days," a source said.

A co-actor from the unit let the cat out of the bag. He said: "I don't know what Shahid told others. But the truth is, without Sonam there was little he could do for the camera. 'Mausam' is a love story and 90 percent of the time their scenes are together. With Sonam gone Shahid left for London. For what, we don't know."

Apparently on his return, Shahid was teased mercilessly about his "secret rendezvous".

Who with, Shahid isn't telling.

Music Review Milenge Milenge Movie

Music Review Milenge Milenge Movie
EXPECTATIONS
It is rather strange that despite names like Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Himesh Reshammiya and Satish Kaushik involved in Milenge Milenge, you are a little wary about what the music of the film has to offer. Reason being that the elapsed time between the creation of these compositions and now, which accounts to almost half a decade. But then once you jog your memory, you realise that it was 5-7 years back when Himesh Reshammiya had come up with some unforgettable songs in films like Tere Naam, Aitraaz and Humraaz. Due to that very reason, you play on Milenge Milenge to check out if the old world charm prevails once again as the composer pairs up with his long standing lyricist Sameer.

MUSIC
What one gets to hear at the very beginning of the album though is the song 'Kuch To Baaki Hai' which has been composed very recently. This is one song where lyrics hold far more weight than composition and singing because of its topical appeal as well as the fact that it merges real and reel life. The world is aware about Shahid-Kareena break up and since the movie too deals with a break up and then the ultimate reunion, lyrics like 'Sab Khatm Hoke Bhi Tere Mere Darmiyaan Kuch To Baaki Hai' couldn't have been timed better. Add to that the fact that Himesh Reshammiya composes and sings with his heart truly in and you have a chartbuster song up your sleeve.

If there was ever a song that made an instant impact, 'Kuch To Baaki Hai' will find it's place right up there. Despite its sad theme, the song entertains and as does it's 'bright mix' which has Vineet Singh coming up with an interesting vocal percussion. There is also another 'remix version' and one doesn't mind the repetition at all due to the song's catchy appeal.

From here on, the music belongs to the era gone by. Are there any reasons to complain? Not at all as what one gets to hear is Alka Yagnik, the singer who was once a force to reckon with and today has been picking up assignments very sparsely. She leads from the front as she gets into a happy outing with the title song 'Milenge Milenge'. A stage song which has Kareena Kapoor swaying to the melody, it also features Jayesh Gandhi, who was once a regular with Reshammiya, giving vocals for Shahid Kapoor. A song about hope when it comes to meeting your someone special at least once more in life, Milenge Milenge has a certain sweetness to it which is exemplified further due to Alka's vocals. The song also sees a repeat version for itself with Himesh Reshammiya taking centre stage and Shreya Ghoshal giving him support. This time around, the proceedings become far more sober as Reshammiya goes low key in his rendition.

What follows next is as an even slower track, 'Tum Chain Ho', for which Reshammiya summons Sonu Nigam to do the job. Remember the kind of soft love songs that the composer used to compose for Salman Khan many years back? 'Tum Chain Ho' belongs to the same category and though it does take time to catch the melody here, it does linger on after a while. If you have liked the kind of songs that Sonu had sung in his non-film albums like 'Deewana', 'Jaan' and 'Yaad' then you would pick this one too from the shelves. A love song where Alka Yagnik gives good company to Sonu, it also sees an unplugged version by Vineet Singh which actually turns out to be a surprise package. This version is the one which can actually be played in loop and enjoyed for hours at stretch.

The song which turns out to be a definite winner though is 'Ishq Ki Galli' which takes one back to the kind of songs that Dharmesh Darshan-Suneel Darshan-Nadeem Shravan used to have in the films during the late 90s and early 2000s. If you have loved that genre of music where 'qawallis' from the aforementioned combination used to entice audience in thousands, especially from interiors, then 'Ishq Ki Galli' is the one for you. Add to that the fact that it is Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who leads from the front and it is hard to imagine this song not reaching out to its target audience. An immensely catchy number with love as the central element of the proceedings, 'Ishq Ki Gali' sees good support coming from Jayesh Gandhi and later finds a good 'remix version' for itself which actually manages to get the feet tapping.

Lastly comes an Alka Yagnik solo, 'Hare Kanch Ki Chuddiyan'. With references to 'Mehendi', 'Radha' and 'Shyam', this one truly belongs to the earlier part of the current decade and at maximum makes one recollect the kind of music which was composed back then. Rest assured, if released during that time period, it would have done reasonably well. However, despite the sweetness and innocence that Alka Yagnik brings in her voice, the song is just about passable.

OVERALL
Milenge Milenge gives a little more than what one may have expected out of this album. Thankfully for the makers, the music hasn't lost its edge over the years and has the potential in it to entertain audience from the current generation as well. Himesh Reshammiya has created tunes which belong to the heartland of the country and hasn't gone ballistic on Western influences. In fact there is a certain Indian feel which is prevalent throughout the score of Milenge Milenge which would help audiences, especially the ones which may not necessarily belong to the metropolitan cities, to identify with the score. Add to that the fact there is bound to be immense craze around the coming together of Shahid-Kareena which would be further complimented by an intense promotional campaign and there could well be a surprise winner round the corner.

Washington DC, June 9, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) Shaheed and Kareena pair up in Milenge Milenge after their last film JAB WE MET (North America - USA Canada - DVD release).

In the forthcoming Bollywood Hindi movie MILENGE MILENGE, Indian actress Kareena Kapoor plays a simple girl looking for a simple guy. Turns out the guy she meets (actor Shaheed Kapoor) may not be a simple guy after all. The story of "Jab they met ... hua love ... aur love" is destined to become a tale of the right girl falling for the wrong guy.

According to reports, Milenge Milenge has been in the making for six years, and finally has a release date of July 9, 2010. In a fortunate coincidence, a planned shooting in Thailand was postponed due to schedule conflicts in 2004 - if the original plan was followed, the cast and crew would have been squarely hit by the infamous earthquake-caused Tsunami that devastated much of the Indian Ocean islands, including parts of Thailand.

Milenge Milenge  also stars Aarti Chhabria, Delnaaz Paul, Satish Shah and others. The film is written by Shiraz Ahmed, directed by Satish Kaushik and produced by Boney Kapoor. Music is by Himesh Reshammiya.

Milenge Milenge in Delhi shares his experience with Screen

Director Satish Kaushik, who shot a major part of his forthcoming film Milenge Milenge, in Delhi shares his experience with Screen
Born and brought up in New Delhi, filmmaker Satish Kaushik has an affinity for the capital. But he got to visit his favourite nooks and corners of the city, while shooting for his forthcoming film Milenge Milenge. When he chalked out the locations for this romantic film starring
Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, he realised that Delhi provided the perfect backdrop for the couple's budding romance in the film. The director wanted to show the love blossoming between the lead pair in malls and coffee shops. So he opted for well-known tourist spots like Connaught Place, Ajmer Gate, Purana Kila and Chandni Chowk. The scene in Chandni Chowk which is one of the most crowded places in old Delhi required us to set up a shop which Shahid visits. I knew the crowds start coming in at about nine 'o' clock, so we put up the props at five in the morning, started shooting at seven and wrapped up by nine, says the director.
One might think that it must have been difficult for the filmmaker to shoot in such crowded places. But he says, For an outsider it may seem tough, but I am basically a Delhiite and know every nook and corner of the city. I also know exactly where and when to shoot so that we could evade the crowds. I am most comfortable shooting in the capital and that too in the winter because of the wonderful climate.
Of course he does not deny the fact that being an actor he is a known face which certainly made geting permissions very easy. I remember when we had to shoot a scene on the road where Shahid browses through books from hawkers. My production controller was very sure we would not get permission to shoot at Ajmer Gate. But as soon as I went into the police station they welcomed me and gave me all the necessary help including finding a bungalow from where we shot with hidden cameras.
Milenge Milenge may have been shot almost eight years back but Kaushik says that Shahid and Kareena share an amazing chemistry. Once the audience start watching the film, they will forget that it was shot so many years ago. Like Tum chain ho is a passionate song and captured on the stunning beaches of Dubai with its crystal clear water, white sand and swaying palm trees, says the director.

This is the best time to release Milenge Milenge Satish Kaushik

This is the best time to release 'Milenge Milenge': Satish Kaushik

His film might be six years too late but director Satish Kaushik feels that this is the right time to release his long pending "Milenge Milenge", with Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, who have since climbed the success ladder to become big time stars.

"It is not a question of delay. Delays can't mar a film," said Kaushik. " 'Milenge Milenge' is the best picture for today because that time they (Shahid-Kareena) were not such big stars," Kaushik told IANS in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.

"Today they are very big stars. People want to see them together as a couple in a movie; the picture will get much more attention and value now," he added.

Shot entirely in Delhi, "Milenge Milenge", which has been in the making since 2004, is said to be a remake of the Hollywood movie "Serendipity". Produced by Boney Kapoor, it will see the light of day July 9.

What caused the delay?

"It got delayed due to certain reasons, but that doesn't matter. A good film is always a good film and a good story is always a good story... Boney is leaving no stone unturned to promote this film in every which way," said Kaushik.

Asked if the delay was due to Shahid-Kareena reportedly playing truant after their split, he said: "It has not happened due to what has been reported in the press. Both Shahid and Kareena have been professionals in terms of completing the film. But there were some unforeseen circumstances which could not be avoided."

What about reports of Kareena delaying the photo shoot and work on promotional video for the movie?

"She has already completed her photo shoot (May 30)... Her dates were totally tied up earlier. She will now shoot for the video very soon for which Shahid has already shot," said Kaushik, chosen as the director of the month by UTV World Movies for its "50 movies to see before you die" segment.

Kaushik is positive about the box office prospects of the romantic comedy.

"The film is about destiny and destiny is going to take this film across. It is looking very fresh. I am doing its background music now and it has turned out to be very well," he said.

"The performances of both Shahid and Kareena and their on screen chemistry is really beautiful. Though it is little delayed, it will definitely make a mark. It is a very sweet romantic comedy.

" The film is about a couple in love who get separated and how destiny brings them together. Shahid-Kareena were a great off screen couple, but they parted ways. 'Milenge Milenge' is an apt title for this pair, despite the fact that they are very happy in their own space now."

Both the actors look very different now from six years ago. But Kaushik is not worried. "The film was completed in one go in 2005-06; so there is no change of looks for the actors in scene to scene."

The promotional song of the movie "Sab kuch khatam ho kar bhi" penned by Sameer should have obvious resonance for the one-time couple.

"We were thinking of a promotional song and this one was apt because it goes with the story. Later on we thought that this one should also be the promotional video for the movie," said the director.

Shahid Kapor Ans Sonam Kapoor daddy talk

Shahid Kapor Ans Sonam Kapoor daddy talk

Sonam Kapoor gave Shahid some solid advice about working with one's father

When Sonam Kapoor joined Shahid Kapoor for the first reading of Pankaj Kapur's Mausam, the actress blew her cheeks out and reportedly said, "You're working with your dad for the first time. Have 'fun'.

"I have just finished Aisha for my father (Anil Kapoor) and I know how tough it is to please him. Now you're getting into Mausam with your dad, you see how hard this film is going to be for you," she told him.

And the same day, the two actors formed a pact. Since both of them knew that it is very hard to please a parent involved in a film, they decided to look out for each other during the shoot and make sure that neither suffers from any blues because having a parent around on a film set (especially in a creative capacity) can be slightly tricky.

Shahid says, "I truly understand what Sonam meant. Dad is very strict with me. And since I respect him tremendously meri toh bolti bandh hai." They also truly understand what Hrithik Roshan must be going through when dad Rakesh Roshan is directing him.

Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor: Look Back in Anger

Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor: Look Back in Anger

Kareena Kapoor is sweetheart to million young hearts for her sexy image. Her arresting beauty and marvelous gesture can create the wave of warm excitement even in the injured mind of an age old dude but right now she is busy of lambasting her soul mate Shahid Kapoor for the breach of promise. There is nothing unfair in love and war.
It is prominently palpable when she charges Shahid Kapoor for his undue indulgence in tampering the domestic affair of Priyanka Chopra.
The rumors are fanning around the Bollywood tinsel stardom that Priyanka Chopra has a soft corner towards Shahid Kapoor and he is now little bit in confusion about his previous engagement. Will he sacrifice the recent development in his relationship? Or all that glitters is not gold. Maybe everything is fuss and bogus. However, who will bell the cat?
Kareena Kapoor has vented her spleen on her dream boy for enhancing the maturity of the love affair with Priyanka Chopra. Time will be the best testimonial to the future consequence.

Pankaj Kapoor designs special dance track for Shahid Kapoor

Pankaj Kapoor designs special dance track for Shahid

Shahid Kapoor is undoubtedly one of the best dancers in Bollywood and his aesthetically-inclined dad Pankaj Kapoor is reportedly putting together a specially-designed dance track in "Mausam".

"We don't want to disappoint Shahid's target audience, the young fans. So yes, Shahid will dance after all," said the film's producer Sheetal Talwar.

A source added: "There was closed-door meeting between the producers, the director and Shahid. It was unanimously decided that there would be a very unique song-and-dance. It was felt that 'Mausam' was too expensive a project to make it seem even slightly experimental in flavour."

Shahid's buddy Ahmed Khan is busy trying to accommodate the dance into his crammed diary.

According to a source very close to the project, Pankaj had initially planned an exclusive heavily melody-based music score based only on ragas for his directorial debut.

In fact, Pritam Chakraborty, who is doing the music score in "Mausam", has just recorded a raga-based love melody in the voice of Rashid Khan.

"It was meant to be only a small music piece. But when Pankaj-ji heard the tune, he wanted it as a full-fledged song," he said.

He admits the music in "Mausam" would be heavily melodious in the tradition of the great love stories down the ages from "Bobby" to "Love Story" to "Ek Duuje Ke Liye" to "Saawariya".
