Shahid Kapoor Gets Inspiration From Ranbir Kapoor And Farhan Akhtar

Shahid Kapoor Gets Inspiration From Ranbir Kapoor And Farhan Akhtar

Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapoor who was last seen in ‘Haider’,  which happens to be one of the biggest hits of the year, in an interview to a leading tabloid stated that there are couple of actors from our industry who inspired him a lot by their powerful performances in their respective films.

Shahid said, "It has been four-five years since I got that recognition. I need to thank a lot of people, especially those whose performances inspired me. Ranbir Kapoor was fabulous in ‘Barfi!’, and when I saw ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ , I thought Farhan Akhtar has really established himself as an actor. At an awards show, I just stood looking at him, thinking that acting is more about your choices than your talent."

Currently, Shahid  happens to be all busy shooting for Vikas Bahl’s ‘shaandar’ opposite Alia Bhatt.

Hope Vishal makes all his films with me: Shahid Kapoor

After a string of unsuccessful films, the acclaim that actor Shahid Kapoor got for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider has upped his game. It has been four-five years since I got that recognition. I need to thank a lot of people, especially those whose performances inspired me. Ranbir (Kapoor) was fabulous in Barfi! (2012), and when I saw Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), I thought Farhan (Akhtar) has really established himself as an actor. At an awards show, I just stood looking at him, thinking that acting is more about your choices than your talent," says Shahid.

Having worked with Vishal on Kaminey (2008) before Haider, he admits that the filmmaker is possibly the only one who brings out the best in him. "I’ve an amazing bond with Vishal, and I hope he makes all his films with me. But, I also think every actor should get a chance  to work with him."

Why is Shahid Kapoor hiding his face?

Why is Shahid Kapoor hiding his face?

Shahid Kapoor tends to dazzle people with his smile every time he steps out however on this instance he was captured in a very different avatar. On a recent outing actor Shahid Kapoor was spotted covering his face with a printed smuff.

The actor who is busy shooting for Shaandaar which also stars Alia Bhatt was seen hiding his face as he stepped out.

Apparently Kapoor was hiding the new look for his latest project in which he plays a wedding planner. These days a trend has set in wherein actors go to extreme lengths to cover their look like it is impossible to spot Ranveer Singh without a hat these days.

Maybe Shahid is following the cue by being extra cautious about not revealing his face. We wonder if we are in for a big reveal of sorts?

Shahid Kapoor is super-excited about ‘Shaandaar’ title track

Shahid Kapoor is super-excited about ‘Shaandaar’ title track

If there’s one thing that Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor lives for apart form acting, it has got to be dance.

The heartthrob has had his hands full with shooting for upcoming film, ‘Shaandaar’ along with Alia Bhatt and father Pankaj Kapur. But more than the film itself, Shahid Kapoor seems to be excited about the film’s title track, which is choreographed by none other than Bosco-Ceasar.

Shahid also shared pictures of the dance rehearsals on Instagram.

Dressed in shorts, sneakers and a fedora, the actor is seen taking a selfie in front of the mirror.

It’s no secret that dance holds a very special place in Shahid’s heart. The Kapoor lad made his entry into the film industry as a background dancer, part of Shiamak Davar’s dance academy. His younger brother Ishaan is also said to have followed in his big brother’s footsteps.

Directed by Vishal Bahl, ‘Shaandaar’ is a destination wedding film and expectations from the lead couple are sky high. And of course, we simply cannot wait to see Shahid’s killer moves onscreen. Could the title track be the next party anthem?

Alia Bhatt talks about working with Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor

Alia Bhatt talks about working with Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor next

Having worked with most of the A-listers from her generation of actors including Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor… Alia Bhatt has now moved on to the next generation of actors. In her next two releases to be directed by Vikas Bahl and Ayan Mukerji, Alia is paired with Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, respectively.

Though she is tight-lipped about the project with Sushant Singh Rajput to be directed by Homi Adjania, Alia Bhatt happily admits to being part of Ayan Mukerji’s next film starring his best friend Ranbir Kapoor who has featured in both the directors’ films (Wake Up, Sid and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani) so far.

Says Alia Bhatt, “I had three releases in 2014 and I’m shooting for one film ‘Shandaar’. Besides this, the only project I am officially part of is the film directed by Ayan Mukerji with Ranbir Kapoor in the lead.”

Alia is looking forward to working with Ranbir Kapoor who had wonderful things to say about her after Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’.

Hopefully she will be working with the Khan generation of superstars soon. “I hope so,” Alia Bhatt laughs. “I want to work with all of them. It is very important to be seen with different co-stars. I’ve so far worked with actors my own age. So there was a natural comfort level with them. But it’s not like Shahid is any different from Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor or Sidharth Malhotra.”

Alia is all praise for Shahid Kapoor with whom she shot in Leeds for ‘Shandaar’, “He is a very chilled-out guy. He has been around for so many years. He’s a thorough professional. I really enjoyed working with him.”

Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Haider' box office collections at Rs 19.45 cr

Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Haider' box office collections at Rs 19.45 cr; row boost fails

Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Haider' box office collections are refusing to climb over the self-imposed Rs 7-cr barrier on a daily basis. While the William Shakespeare scripted 'Hamlet' has refused to die through the centuries in the imagination of the people who love to tell and re-tell stories, going to the theatre to watch 'Haider' is at the moment not on the top-of-the-mind recall list of most movie-going people.

What is clear, is that ambition was never the top intent when the film was made as is clear from the fact that it was made on a relatively modest budget of Rs 37 cr and on top of it, it openned on a very small number of screens, just 1,250 – if you compare it to Hrithik Roshan's 'Bang Bang', then the same figures are Rs 140 cr and over 4,500 screens respectively.
Here are the daily India box office collections of 'Haider':

Day 1: Rs 6.14 cr
Day 2: Rs 6.93 cr
Day 3: Rs 6.38 cr

'Haider 'has also received a setback in terms of its worldwide box office collections as the film has not been screened in Pakistan due to a ban imposed on it for its Kashmir-centric plot.
Right now, while its India collections total Rs 19.45 cr, if you add worldwide take, then the figure climbs to Rs 21.45 cr.

This has been disappointing as the film even had a controversy going as there was a backlash which blamed the movie-makers for being anti-Muslim while others tagged it as anti-Hindu or India. But aside from the social media, that did not get much play in the mainstream media.
So, as far as 'Haider' is concerned, controversy does not always translate into collections.

Shahid Kapoor on why Indian films don’t win at the Oscars

Shahid Kapoor on why Indian films don’t win at the Oscars

"We’re a huge industry on our own. We’re the second largest in the world, in terms of making movies. I think we focus on the audience we’re making our films for. Our sensibilities are very different from Hollywood films. That is why there are very few films that work here as well as internationally," says Shahid Kapoor.

The actor adds that people "do a film in India, thinking that it will go to the Oscars. I find it stupid. I have to do a film here for the people in India. I’m not doing my current film because it’s going to get nominated somewhere. I am doing it because I want people in this country to like it," says Shahid.

He says that often, parallel cinema hits the jackpot. "Sometimes you see a lot of films that are not considered mainstream and tend to get picked up [for the Oscars] because those film-makers don’t have worries like, ‘How will I make the people of this country like it?’ They make cheaper, smaller and tighter films, and want to experiment with the kind of audience that might like it," says the actor.

Haider Movie Music Review Rating 4 Star

 Film: Haider
Director: Vishal Bhardwaj
Music: Junglee Music
Rating: ****

Bollywood: Director-composer Vishal Bhardwaj has ingeniously infused the flavours of Kashmiri folk songs and instruments while Gulzar has brought in the nuances of Urdu into this film's soundtrack. Vishal Dadlani opens the album with the powerful guitar-driven Aao Na, which has the maker's favourite lyricist, Gulzar's expressions.

He has used a rubab and other instruments native of Kashmir for the bouncy Bismil, where the modes and lyrics are set to a stage play. Sukhwinder Singh succeeds here as the singer, like he did in a similar song situation for Bhardwaj's Kaminey. The dark and brooding Jhelum is set to electric guitar and Gulzar's powerfully visual phrases like Jhelum hua kharaa.

The composer himself goes behind the mike for this semi-classical one, with elan. Gulon Mein Rang Bhare is a Mehdi Hassan song that Arijit Singh has rendered with conviction, doing justice to late poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz's eternal words. The melodious Do Jahan is an old Kashmiri folk song, with additional lyrics by Gulzar. Playback singer Suresh Wadkar sounds tedious.

Shraddha Kapoor's bits are surprisingly refreshing. The stunning Ek Aur Bismil is a reprise of Bismil, with the words and Singh's voice given a makeover that sounds Arabic. Bhardwaj has taken a refrain from Aao Na and turned it into a local worker's song So Jao, with the rustic voices of Bashir Lone, Bashir Bhawani, Muzamil Bhawani. Aaj Ke Naam is another Faiz Ahmad Faiz song brought to life by the composer's music and his wife Rekha Bhardwaj's voice.

Haider song Aao Na: Vishal Bhardwaj and Gulzar give Shahid Kapoor

Haider song Aao Na: Vishal Bhardwaj and Gulzar give Shahid Kapoor a powerful track

The song has modern beats and is becoming quite a hit with the Hindi rock lovers in the country…
Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Haider‘s first song Aao Na‘s music video was recently released. The pulsating rock number has been penned by Gulzar, composed and crooned by Vishal Dadlani. The mood of the song has a slight Metallica feel to it and for all those existentialist souls out there, this whacky number is highly recommended!

The video has scenes from the film that build up in a crescendo along with the words. What has piqued our interest the most is Shahid’s relationship with Tabu in the film. If Vishal Bhardwaj has kept true to Hamlet‘s plot then you mustn’t expect Shahid and Tabu to share a typical mother-son bond.

Shraddha looks radiant in a Kashmiri girl’s role and her chemistry with Shahid is one to look out for.

Check out Aao Na here and tell us if you are excited about this Vishal Bhardwaj film!

Shraddha Kapoor landed a role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s film Haider, thanks to co-star Shahid Kapoor. The actress confessed during a promotional event that Sasha recommended her to the filmmaker.

Shahid, who was present at the meet was left speechless and could only flash a grin. Earlier, Vishal had remarked that Shraddha was selected because of her eyes, which looked Kashmiri, like the character she essays in the film. Now whom do we believe?

Comedy Nights With Kapil ‘Haider’ special: Shraddha Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor

Comedy Nights With Kapil ‘Haider’ special: Shraddha Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor have a gala time promoting the movie

Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s forthcoming film is only set to release in October this year, yet the stars seem to have already set out on a promotional spree. The duo recently appeared on the sets of popular comical show Comedy Nights With Kapil to promote their film Haider.

The episode started off with a very thanda act in which Kapil Sharma was seen in a Goan avatar trying hard to make the audience laugh with his silly and lame jokes. The presence of daadi and Kapil’s wife Manju in the act also couldn’t light up the mood of the audiences. All in all, the first half was uninteresting, colourless and mundane.

However, all the fun started with the entry of Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the second half of the episode. Shraddha looked pretty cute in a grey and white coloured crop top and a knee length skirt while Shahid looked uber cool in a skull t-shirt. Also, not to forget Shahid Kapoor’s dimples! Oh my God! His smile is to die for!

Shahid couldn’t stop laughing when Gutthi performed an item number on the Kashmiri folk song ‘Bismil Bismil’ from Haider. The audiences laughed their heads off watching Shraddha and Kapil perform a spoof on Romeo and Juliet. On asking about her role in Haider, the ‘Ek Villain’ actress said that she plays a very intense character in Haider. Her role in the film is that of a journalist. Haider is Shraddha’s first film with Vishal Bharadwaj and Shahid Kapoor. The director of the film, Vishal Bharadwaj, who is known for directing dark romantic films like Omkara and Maqbool, also joined in to promote his much-awaited film Haider. The film, which is an adaptation of William Shkespeare’s ‘Hamlet’, is slated to release on October 2, 2014.

Shahid Kapoor wants Vishal Bharadwaj to direct Kaminey 2 Movie

Shahid Kapoor wants Vishal Bharadwaj to direct ‘Kaminey 2′

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, who will soon be seen in filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj’s next ‘Haider’, wants to join hands with the director for the third time.

Shahid collaborated with Vishal Bharadwaj for the first time in 2009 for ‘Kaminey’ . The actor, who is in London to promote the adaptation of William Shakespeare’s tragedy ‘Hamlet’, ‘Haider’, with the man himself, took to Twitter to share that he has been trying to convince the director for ‘Kaminey’ sequel.

Shahid also thinks that the director is ‘lucky’ for him and has given him the best roles so far.
“Vishal sir gave me so far the best role of my life in ‘Kaminey’. It is amazing to work with him again. It is a rare opportunity and very few actors get to play Hamlet,” Shahid said in an interview earlier.

“When he (Vishal) wrote the script of Haider, he called me and said ‘You are very lucky. Whenever I cast you in any film, your role is written really well.’ I guess, he is really lucky for me,” Shahid said earlier.

‘Haider’, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and is set in Kashmir. The film stars Tabu, Kay Kay Menon and Shraddha Kapoor apart from Shahid Kapoor.

Haider Movie Trailer (Official) | Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor

Haider' and 'Bang Bang' are both very different films: Shahid Kapoor

Haider and 'Bang Bang' are both very different films: Shahid Kapoor

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, whose upcoming film 'Haider' is set to clash with superstar Hrithik Roshan's 'Bang Bang' on October 2, feels that both the films can sustain together because they cater to different audiences.

"I saw the promo of Bang Bang and I loved it and I will definitely go and see the film. I wished good luck to Hrithik. It is a five-day weekend, the five-day holiday period is coming after a long time and I think any big holiday weekend is good enough for two films to sustain. Two big films can release (together), there is no problem," Shahid said in an interview here.

While Vishal Bharadwaj's Haide' is a desi adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, starring Shahid, Tabu, Irrfan Khan, Kay Kay Menon and Shraddha Kapoor, Bang Bang, directed by Siddharth Raj Anand, is a remake of the hit Hollywood movie Knight and Day, with Hrithik and Katrina Kaif in the lead.

"I think if Haider is black then Bang Bang is white. What Haider is offering you that Bang Bang can't offer and vice versa. We are confident about our film. Our film is not very expensive so we have nothing to lose. So getting a five-day weekend is fantastic for a film like ours," Shahid said.

The actor feels that both the films are of different genres and will cater to audiences with different tastes.

"I don't think there is going to be any confusion for people. If people want to see something edgy, different and out-of-the-box then they will see Haider and if people want to see something entertaining, fun and a potboiler then they will see 'Bang Bang'. Had there been two similar kinds of films then it would be a different scenario but that is not the case here," he added.

Shahid Kapoor to face tough competition from siblings

Shahid Kapoor to face tough competition from siblings

Shahid Kapoor has competition at home, from his half brothers and sister. While his mother Neelima Azmi's son with her second husband Rajesh Khattar, Ishaan, is gearing up for his Bollywood debut, Shahid's father Pankaj Kapur's children with his present wife Supriya Pathak, Sanah (23) and Ruhaan (20), have also got their eyes on the silver screen.

Confirming this, Pankaj said: "Sanah and Ruhaan have trained in acting. Sanah took a course in New York City, while Ruhaan honed his acting skills in London. I am so proud of them." So, will Pankaj direct a film for them? Pat comes the reply, "I definitely will. But not right away. I think they should first make a place in the industry on their own."

Listen to the songs of Shahid Kapoor on Gaana.com

Added the friend; "Pankaj didn't direct Shahid when he started out though if he had wanted, he could have. He believes that his children should stand on their own feet without his help. That will make them stronger." Pankaj's previous and only directorial venture Mausam (2011), starring Sonam Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor didn't fare well at the box-office.

I'm a huge Shahid Kapoor , says Alia Bhatt

I'm a huge Shahid Kapoor fan, says Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt, who has confirmed she has signed Vikas Bahl's Shaandar for a role with Shahid Kapoor, says she's a fan of the actor, whom she first fell in love with when she was all of 11.

"I'm a huge Shahid Kapoor fan. I must have been 11 years old when I went to see Shahid in Ishq Vishk at Gaiety-Galaxy (in Mumbai). I've been a fan since then. He is a fabulous actor and from what I hear, a very supportive co-star," Alia said.

Shahid is a generation removed from most of the co-stars Alia has worked with so far.

Gently, she corrects that by saying: "You forget I've done Highway with Randeep Hooda. But yes, that apart, I've so far worked with actors my own age. So there was a natural comfort level with them.

But it's not like Shahid is any different from Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor or Sidharth Malhotra. He is a very chilled-out guy. He has been around for so many years. I am sure he's a thorough professional. And I am really looking forward to working with him."

The actress, who was recently seen in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, admits there is plenty on the plate. But she isn't allowed to speak about them all as yet. She is, however, excited about Shaandar.

"I'm very excited. I loved his (Vikas Bahl's) Queen. And I am really looking forward to what he does in the film with me," said the Highway actress.

Shaandar is to be shot in an undisclosed part of England later this year. Bahl's last film, the much-lauded Queen had been shot in Paris, one of Alia's favourite cities where she got a chance to holiday recently.

"I am very excited about this film. It's something I haven't done so far. I want to work with every major actor," she said.

First look Haider' made me feel inadequate as an actor: Shahid Kapoor

First look Haider' made me feel inadequate as an actor: Shahid Kapoor

Mumbai: Actor Shahid Kapoor, who plays a dark character in his forthcoming film "Haider", says although he prepared for the role the nagging thought that he's not "good enough" for it kept haunting him throughout the shoot.

An adaptation of William Shakespeare's tragedy "Hamlet", the film, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, is set against the unrest in the Kashmir valley and revolves around a guy called Haider who wants to avenge his father's death.

"This is one role that makes you feel very inadequate as an actor," Shahid said here Tuesday at the trailer launch of the movie.

Apart from other things, the 33-year-old actor even shaved off his head to get under the skin of the character.

"Every day when I was on the sets, the inherent feeling I had was that I don't think I am good enough to play this role. That's what I felt everyday and I used to keep running to everybody for assurance right from Vishal sir to Pankaj, our cameraman, because this is that kind of role.

"So one prepared to whatever degree that one can, but it did make me feel inadequate as an actor," he added.

But he thanks his co-stars and the director for their support.

"It was very difficult to prepare for the role, but I had support from some fantastic actors and that really helped me a lot," said Shahid, whose last releases include "Mausam" and "R...Rajkumar".

"Being in the same frame with actors like Tabu, Kay Kay Menon and Irrfan sir was a huge learning experience for me. It gave me a lot of confidence about the product that we are trying to create," he added.

Also featuring Shraddha Kapoor, "Haider" is slated to release Oct 2.

Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor to clash at Box Office

It`s time for another big clash in Bollywood. Two of the top Bollywood hunks will be seen competing this Gandhi Jayanti for screen space. Supposedly, Shahid Kapoor`s `Haider` and Hrithik Roshan`s `Bang Bang` will be released on October 2, just before the festive season, this year.
