Shahid Ranbir Imran clash averted Rock Star postponed

Shahid Ranbir Imran clash averted Rock Star postponed

Mumbai, June 18 (IANS) It looks like the glam dream of seeing the three gen-X superstars Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan locked in a battle to the finish would remain just a fantasy. The expected clash Sep 9 this year between Shahid's "Mausam", Ranbir's "Rockstar" and Imran's "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan" is not happening!

Though official sources claim otherwise, director Imtiaz Ali's "Rockstar" has been moved forward to November.

There seems to be no limit to the delays being caused in the release of "Rock Star". Though officially the latest release date is Sep 9, there is no doubt the film has been secretly shifted to November and it looks like there are chances of further delays.

In fact a source very close to the project confirms "Rock Star" has been shifted to November.

"For now we've shifted to November. But this again is not sure. We could move further ahead," he says.
But producers Eros International maintain the status quo on the release.

Says Ram Mirchandani of Eros: "As of now we are not in a position to comment on whether the release date has been shifted from Sep 9. As soon as we get a clearer picture we will let you know."

The latest buzz is that "Rock Star" may not be released this year at all. It could now be released at the beginning of 2012. The main reason for the delay is said to be the music of the film.

Says the source: "A.R. Rahman has still to do a couple of tunes and the full background music. However, Imtiaz is really happy with the music that Rahman has done so far. In fact, Imtiaz knows the musical film is being transported to another level, thanks to Rahman's music.

The delay in the release is getting too expensive, he adds.

"The delay is proving expensive to the film's producers Eros International and Shree Ashtavinayak. It's also Nargis Fakhri's debut film. And she's getting anxious to sign other films. She's flooded with offers. But as per her contract, she can't sign any other film until 'Rock Star' releases," he says.

The biggest sufferer is Anurag Basu and his producer UTV, whose dates for Ranbir Kapoor in "Barfi" keep getting allotted to Imtiaz Ali's "Rock Star".

With "Rockstar" songs yet to be delivered, it looks like Basu's "Barfi" may yet have to suffer some more date-adjustment hassles.
Rockstar release might be pushed to November

Sonam Kapoor talks about her equation with Shahid Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor talks about her equation with Shahid Kapoor

The kind of free-bird public image Sonam Kapoor has, one would have expected her to throw a glamorous party on her birthday. But it seems like Sonam, who turned 26 on Thursday, has become wiser. She had a quiet birthday and was shooting for her upcoming movie Mausam.

Now the rumormongers have something to talk about! They can claim that Sonam spent her birthday with Shahid Kapoor (since he is the lead actor ofMausam). But before anyone could suspect anything, Sonam said that she finds a great friend in Shahid and is happy that she has not been linked with him. She added that the girl who would land up with him in the end would be really lucky. Are you reading Priyanka Chopra?

Anyway, Sonam’s daddy Anil Kapoor has already bagged some great roles in Hollywood. So will she follow his footsteps? Maybe, exclaims Sonam. She believes what matters is the kind of role being offered, not the language. However, if a great director offers her a good project, she would definitely consider it.

Effectively, Sonam is considered to be the style diva of Bollywood. So, who does she think is the most stylish actress in the industry? Unlike her other contemporaries, who would name a yesteryear actress to avoid the question, she said she finds Kangana Ranaut incredibly stylish.

Well, Sonam, you and your straight-forward talks always please your fans. Keep them coming!

Shahid Kapoor Mausam postponed

Shahid's Mausam postponed

It seems Diwali is nearer than we thought it was. Usually on a Diwali weekend, Bollywood serves us with the best of their cookies.

But it seems, this year, September 9 will be the day when industry's three heartthrobs Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan will strike the chord together with Mausam, Rockstar and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan respectively. Shahid's Mausam has been postponed to release on September 9. This will mean that a stiff competition between the three is also expected.

The producers of Shahid Kapoor's Mausam have admitted that the film will be postponed from his original release date of July 22. "I am sure all three films are good. We find September 9 as the right date to release Mausam. Now let the best man and the best film win. Let the audience take the decision," says the producer of Mausam, Sheetal Talwar.

But shedding light on the expected business of the three films, Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh does not seem too happy with the three releases together. He says, "Even a Diwali weekend is not enough to accommodated three releases. And a non festive weekend by no means will be enough for three such big films which clashes three teen heartthrobs. The business of each film could get affected by almost 40 per cent."

While Yash Raj Films is known to never postpone their films once they have fixed a release date, Taran Adarsh still hopes for a way out to avoid losses. He says, "I hope better sense prevails and they figure a way out of this. And it would be wrong to say that this clash will give us a clear winner among the three as none of the film will get enough time and space!" he adds
